Meet Alyrique

Senior Editor, Youth Light Worker

Hi everyone! I’m Alyrique Franklin and I am currently an upcoming senior at WSU. I am working towards my degree in psychology along with a certification in community psychology. I am hoping that I will be able to work towards another certification in human factors and a minor in linguistics before I graduate next fall! RootWork to me is about decolonizing my narrative and the way I move in life. Although I am only 20, I’ve been able to recognize that a lot of what is present today was not made to benefit me or people that look or think like me. I think that what RootWork provides is history and an avenue for reconnecting people like myself through spirituality and it affirms that we exist and we always have!
